always summer, somewhere

Warm destinations in South America

South America's warmth obeys two different rhythms. North of the Equator, in Colombia, Ecuador, and the Caribbean-facing coasts, the temperature stays generous all year. Cross south and the calendar takes over: Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Rio swing into a scorching, samba-loud summer from December through February, then cool to mild winters. Altitude rewrites everything in the Andes. Bogotá, at 4°N, sits 2,640 metres above the sea and stays permanently spring-cool.
